March 23, 2010

Kitchen plumbing problems can damage your kitchen stuff. If a lot of water leaks in your kitchen, all cooking equipments may get damaged.

• You can avoid plumbing problems by controlling what goes down the drain. Do not allow cooking grease to go down your sink drain as this causes clogging. Food particles or other small items can also cause clog.

• You can use chemical based drain cleaner or boiling water down the drain to ensure that your kitchen plumbing does not become clogged.

• Replace any old pipes in your kitchen and tighten any pipes that appear to be loose.

• During the winter, you have to handle your kitchen pipes carefully. If you are going to be away from home, ensure that you leave the heat on; then, open the kitchen and leave the vanity cabinet’s doors open to allow the heat to reach pipes. This prevents freezing in the pipes which can make them burst.

• If you live in areas prone to earthquakes, put the kitchen water heaters to the wall. The water heater should be placed on a tray that will direct any water that may leak to other places.

• If you sense any leaks, examine carefully and make sure that repair is done before the damage extends. If you ignore any small leaks, you may end up dealing with great damage in your kitchen.

• Always keep the emergency overflow drain open. Do not get tempted to plug it so as to increase the amount of water held in the tub.

These few steps are vital and can help you ensure that your kitchen plumbing and pipes are functioning properly all the time – day in and day out. Problems with plumbing in your kitchen can cause great mess in your kitchen. Always try to avoid any problems in your kitchen.
